Ebola: Lagos Schools To Resume October 8th

Private and public schools in Lagos State will now resume on October 8, 2014.

Governor Babatunde Fashola approved the new resumption date at a stakeholders’ forum held Sunday, at Lagos Television Blue Roof, Agindigbi, Ikeja. The forum was attended by headteachers and principals of schools in the state.

According to the governor, the shift is to allow for adequate distribution of necessary Ebola preventive materials in schools across the state.

Education Is Not For Me, I Scored 17 In Jamb - Timaya

Ukwu crooner Timaya bravely revealed that he scored only 17 in JAMB, and he urged his fans not to abandon school even though he said it wasn't for him.

He said: “Education is not for me, it is important, yes, but not for me. I scored 17 in JAMB, that's when I gave up. I don’t have the brain for education but for those of you who do, please do it, its good.”

LASU Suspends Exam, Closes School Indefinitely

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) just relased an official bulletin after the chaos that happened yesterday, stating that the institution has been shut down indefinately

The bulleting reads thus:

In the wake of violent protest by some affected student of Lagos State University (LASU), over the closure of the university portal for registration of courses for rain semester 2012/2013 examinations, the university management have decided to shut down the University indefinately and aslo examination have been postposed till further notice

He recently introduced a new educational policy, also known as 4-5-3 education system which has been greeted with several protest since yesterday.
The development came as Governor Rauf Aregbesola inaugurated the newly constructed Salvation Army Middle School, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, to mark the commencement of the new educational policy and resumption for 2013/2014 academic calendar year.
Credible sources informed the Nigerian Tribune that pupils of Baptist Girls’ High School contended that they could not allow male students to be merged with their school, exclusively populated by female from the its inception in 1956.
The protest staged by the students drew the attention of policemen, who stormed the school premises around 9.15 a.m to restore normalcy.
Worried by the development, the state deputy governor, Mrs Titi-Laoye Tomori, who also doubles as the Commissioner for Education, had to come to the school premises around 10.35 a.m to appeal to the pupils to cooperate with the merger policy.
