15- year old girl burnt to death by her Father in Yemen

In a village in Taiz Province , a 15-year old Yemeni girl was burnt to death by her father for “communicating with her fiancee”.The 35-year old father has been arrested by the authorities but statement did no clarify when the girl was killed.

In Yemen , child marriage is rampant and cases which activist call “honor killing” is also noticed. More than half of the girls are married out before 18 in Yemen statistically measured by Human Right .Most cases of “Honor Killing ” in Yemen , usually takes place in rural areas . Large number of this killings are not reported and culprits are never found or brought to justice .
Ali Al-Bahri, a human rights activist has urged the Government to deal with Honor killings seriously and ensure that the criminals are punished .
